SOYO, ESA set up Mani Sharma Memorial 3rd Division League title clash

Imphal, December 10 2021: SOYO, Sanjenbam and ESA, Mayang Imphal will fight it out for the top honours of the 4th Manipur Sharma Memorial 3rd Division Football League organized by Imphal West District Football Association at PAMYAL ground, Patsoi.

In the first clash of group winners, Group A winners ESA overcame Group D winners KALYC, Karam 4-3 on penalties after a competitive 2-2 draw at the end of regulation time to make it to the final.

ESA drew first with Sertolaban finding the breakthrough in the 24th minute only to be equalized by KALYC through W Khwainganba in the 37th minute.

After the break, Marldney put ESA ahead once again adding the team's second goal in the 42nd minute but E Prithiba equalizer in the 52nd minute saw the game end in a 2-2 draw.

In the shoot-out, only Akash, Prithiba and Umakanta found the target from the spot while Roshan, William, Marldney and Sachindev scored it for the Mayang Imphal team.

Meanwhile, Group B winners, SOYO held their nerves to overcome USC, Phayeng who emerged Group C winners 4-3 in a keenly contested game.

USC started positive and were ahead when T Krishnananda struck in the 14th minute but the lead was short-lived with H Motilal hitting the equalizer in the 26th minute.

Dharmajoy then helped SOYO overturn the lead in the 36th minute and make it 2-1 in his team's favour till the break.

After the restart, SOYO continued to dominate the game and H Motilal was at it again to give his team a two-goal cushion in the 43rd minute.

The Phayeng team fought back valiantly and cut the gap through L Neki goal in the 56th minute but K Ratanjit scored a stoppage time goal to ensure SOYO remained ahead with a two goal lead.

T Krishnakanta also found his second for USC in the added time but it was too late for them to salvage a draw and eventually SOYO ran out 4-3 winners.

The final match will be played on December 12 at BMSC ground, Taobungkhok from 1.30 pm .
