Activist rues lack of sports infrastructure

Imphal, October 10 2016: The closing ceremony of the Khatsei Memorial Tuila Area Chavang league 2016 under the auspices of Tuila Area Sports Association (TASA) was held today at Lhanjang play ground, under Henglep AC in Churachandpur district.

In the football final, Tulaphai YC trounced P Sejol YC by a margin of five goals to two to claim the trophy.

Attending the closing ceremony of the league as the chief guest, social activist Mangcha Thangzawm rued that sporting talents of Henglep AC in particular and Churachandpur district in general went unexploited due to lack of infrastructure.

Had enough attention been paid on sports and other infrastructure, many young and promising talents from the area might have shone in the national  and international sporting arenas, Mangcha Thangzawm asserted.

He said that Henglep AC needs a farsighted, committed leader who is capable of bringing development from the grassroots level.

Lauding the efforts of the organisers of the tournament , Mangcha Thangzawm urged the people of the area to be cautious in choosing their representative in the ensuing legislative Assembly election.

Other attending the programme as the dignitaries included Hemkholal Haokip of P Sejol (donor) and Lamboi, manager of Zoheisa FC.
