Imphal, November 09, 2013: Andro Assembly Constituency MLA Th Shyamkumar presented a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to Yumnam Sanathoi, silver medal winner of the 28th Wushu Championship.

Hailing from Yairipok Top Chingtha, Sanathoi won the medal in 48 kg category of the championship held from November 2 to 6 at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

A felicitation function was held in her honour at the official residence of Shyamkumar today.

Sanathoi's coach Ibomcha was also feted at the function.

Speaking at the occasion, Shyamkumar said that Manipur has been occupying a significant place in the global sporting arena.

Saying that peace can't be prevailed in the world without sports, and crime rate is increasing due to degradation of discipline, Shyamkumar said that State youths must be encouraged to choose sports as a career in order to inculcate discipline in their minds.
