U-12 AITA Championship Series : Ashwajit Senjam clinches boys' singles title

Local favourite, Ashwajit Senjam registered an overwhelming straight sets victory over Antariksh Tamuly of Assam to claim the boys' singles title of the U-12 AITA Championship Series organised by Manipur Tennis Association under the aegis of All India Tennis Association at Deco Turf Tennis Court, Officers' Club, Lamphel.
It was an easy day for the Manipuri lad, Ashwajit as he succeeded in beating Antariksh Tamuly 6-1, 6-2 in the final match today.
Ashwajit entered into the final with a 2-1 sets win over Neeraj Thokchom of Manipur, who claimed doubles title along with Shankar Heishnam, in the semi-final.
Yesterday, Sohini Sanjay Mohanty of Odisha clinched the girls' singles title after an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over Y Thoibi of Manipur before going for the doubles title with Nandini Laishram of Manipur.
Nandini and Sohini beat the pair of Ningthemcha Sanareima and Y Thoibi in the girls' doubles final.
The winners and runners up of the singles and doubles competition were feted today during the closing ceremony which was graced by T Pamei, IAS, president Manipur Tennis Association and Salam Ranjit, advisor of the Manipur Tennis Association as dignitaries.
A total of 24 boys and 6 girls from across Manipur, Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Tripura took part in this championship.
