T Subol Memorial Veteran Cricket : CYCLONE thrash YWC-L by 72 runs to secure semi-final berth

Imphal, January 09 2019: CYCLONE, Thangmeiband continued their fine form today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium to notch up an impressive 72-run victory against YWC, Langthabal and finished Group A winners to book the semifinal berth of the 3rd T Subol Memorial Veteran Cricket Tournament (T-20) being organised under the aegis of Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.

YWC-L, which beat NAPSA, Kha Imphal in previous Group A tie finished runners up and will meet winners of Group B in the semi-final.

CYCLONE won the toss and started the innings positively with Thoi Thoi managing a 49-ball 92 runs giving YWC bowlers a tough time while N Shashikumar hit a half century off 38 balls and remained on the crease unbeaten to post a handsome total of 172 runs for 3 in 20 overs.

Rohendro of CYCLONE also added 27 runs off 30 balls in this innings.

Kumarjit, Kumar and Gojendro of YWC-L toiled hard to pick up one wicket each in this innings before they went down for a paltry 100 runs for 7 in response.

Priyokumar top-scored for YWC-L making 29 runs off 26 balls in reply while Premchandra and Gojendro scored 18 and 12 runs respectively.

Tiken of CYCLONE enjoyed a three wicket haul and played a crucial role in holding the Langthabal side in the second innings.

Shashikumar, Arun, Bikom and Surjit were also able to fetch one wicket apiece in this innings and steered their team through to the semi-finals.

Thoi Thoi of CYCLONE who had a 92 runs knock today was adjudged man of the match.
