CC Meet: TRAU enters quarter final

Imphal, January 09 2013: Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), Kwakeithel has enter the pre-quarter final round of the ongoing 56th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet) organised by AMFA at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

TRAU beat USA, Khurai 3-2 in a keenly contested pre-quarter final match played today and entered the quarter final round.

TRAU players who had won previous titles of the CC Meet played the match with skillful tactics right from the beginning and drew the first blood of the match in the 3rd minute of the match.

The first goal was scored by Th Premkumar.

Shocked by the sudden goal, USA Khurai took some time to get regroup.

Taking advantage of the situation, TRAU edged in a brace in the 6th minute of the match through L Tiken.

Short of two goals, USA soon gathered their wits and began to played a defensive match allowing them to study the tactics and formation of their opponents.

No sooner, they learn the tactics of their opponents, USA players began to play the match with more coordination and began to look for chances to get behind the defence of TRAU.

In the 25th minute they got their chance to retaliate and successfully converted the chance into their goal account through a straight shot of L Sanatomba.

The first half of the match concluded 2-1 in favour of TRAU.

In the second half, USA players, who were sneaking for opportunity to square back the game got another chance in the 55th minute and F Lalzarzo equalised the score position.

However TRAU was quick enough to answer back and scored their third goal of the match against USA in the 61st minute of the match and led the match again.

The goal was scored by N Momocha.

The rest of the match was full of action with both teams trying to outplay their opponents and defend themselves at the same time.

As the match was equally contested one, no team could scored any further goal and the match concluded with TRAU as winner.

O Premeshwor, L Sanatomba and S Dinakumar of TRAU were issued yellow cards for playing fouls during the match.

NACO, Nambul Mapal and ZFC, CCpur will play the next match tomorrow at 1.15 pm at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
