RCA, KASC victorious in 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament 2024-25

RCA, Lilong and KASC, Khomidok kicked off their league campaigns in the 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament on winning notes today.
RCA opened their Group A winning account by defeating YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai by 85 runs at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College playground.
Asked to bat first, RCA amassed 205 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 35 overs thanks to Naesh Hussain's 44-ball 50 and notable contributions from Syed Hussain 38, Md Alfash 23 and Md Safwan 20 .
RCA then bowled out YUCC for 120 runs in 30.4 overs riding on their bowling trio of Zamir Khan (3/21), Aziz Mirza (2/16) and Naesh Hussain (2/29) who shared 7 wickets.
Nawaz Sharif, Syed Hussain and Md Safwan also picked a wicket apiece for RCA.
Earlier in the first innings, Ningthoujam Kenedy enjoyed a four wicket haul but conceded 41 runs in his spell of 5 overs as Shyam picked 2 wickets for 22 runs in 3 overs.
Chasing 206 for the win, Kadamjit Moirangthem 35, Ningthoujam Kenedy 15, W Lenin 14 and Devraj Nongthombam 10 made double digit figures for YUCC before they slumped to 120 all out.
Naesh Hussain who struck a half century and picked two wickets was adjudged player of the match.
KASC meanwhile kicked off their Group B campaign with a 20-run victory over WYC, Wangkhem at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
Even as the top order batters failed to produce a good show, Washim Akram 91 and W Rajak 49 made noteworthy scores to help KASC post 177/9 (in 35 overs) after WYC won the toss and elected to field first.
Qurshid Alam (3/24) and Bm Afsar (3/28), Md Javed Aktar (2/37) and Md Alfash (2/20) then ran riot across the WYC batting line up to set up their collapse at 157 in 31.5 overs.
Ruhit Nongmaithem (4/31) and G Mangi Sharma (3/37) led the bowling attack for WYC earlier in the first innings before Mangi Sharma 36, Maneshwor 20 and Laishram Rajesh 20 struggled with the bat.
Washim Akram, who starred with a blistering knock of 91 in 44 balls (8 fours and 6 sixes), was adjudged player of the match.
