Swarnim Vijay Divas Football Tournament concludes

Noney, September 08 2021: Noney Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) organised a closing ceremony of football tournament and pipe band show on September 7, 2021 to commemorate the Swarnim Vijay Varsh of 1971 War and 75 years of Independence as Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at Peace Ground, T Laijang village, Kangpokpi district.

The local populace and Noney Battalion bid a colourful farewell to the "Swarnim Vijay Divas Football Tournament-2021" .

In this historic event, 12 football teams from different villages took part and showcased top class performances.

The nerve-wrecking final of the tournament was played between teams from T Khonom and Khonglong villages.

Both the teams played with great zeal and determination.

T Khonom won the match by 1-0 margin to be crowned as champions.

The closing ceremony with audience packed village T Laijang took Harmonious-Cacophony' commemorating the Golden Jubilee of 1971 Indo-Pak War.

It also featured the Kuki cultural dance by TM High School, L Hengjol village and Rongmei tribal dance by Khonglong Youth followed by breath-taking display of pipe band show by 10 Assam Rifles (Noney Battalion) .

The commandant of Noney Bn addressed the audience by saying that the event was aimed at motivating and providing a platform to the youth of the area.

"This event has opened the door and it is the time for all of us to join our hands together to play our part to break down the barriers," he said.

The event finally culminated by giving away the prizes, cash awards to the winners and organising staff.

This carnival of sports showcased and exhibited the best of sportsmanship and showed unity in diversity.

Paominhao Haokip (social activist), Doumang Haokip (KSO GHQ), AC T Lupheng (CRPF) and representatives of Kuki Inpi and Manipur Police graced the occasion.

The village authorities, youth clubs and sports clubs were also present, which played a crucial part to make this event a huge success.

The response of local populace was overwhelming and they expressed their deepest gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their virtuous act.

This event will offer an array of benefits to the locals and promote the peace and prosperity in the area by fostering the bond of humanity between the local population and security forces.
