Kakching, September 08 2019: The second edition of Kakching World War II Memorial Run 2019 was successfully organised by Kakching Runners today at DSA ground, Kakching and witnessed a participation of more than 3000 runners from different parts of India.

The 25 km run organised with the aim of ushering a healthy society and pollution and corruption free environment, was flagged off by Y Surchandra Singh, MLA Kakching AC along with the advisors and elders of Kakching Runners from 6.30 am onwards.

Nongthombam Chaoba Devi from Luwangsangbam Godown Maning won the women's below 45 year category title with her best time of 1 hour 56 minutes and 45 seconds as Makakmayum Minarashi (2:08:38) from Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Romika Devi (2:09:10) from Kakching Wairi Khullakpam Leikai respectively bagged the second and third place.

Lourembam Sobhabati Chanu from Khurai Sajor Leikai Tinsid Road on the other hand took 2 hours 51 minutes and 15 seconds to win the women's above 45 category title while Saikhom Bideshini (3:03:17) from Khangabok Awang Leikai and Thoudam Akasini Devi (3:29:10) from Wangoi Makha Leikai respectively earned the second and third place.

In the men's below 45 years competition, LR Luther from Yaopao Colony, Senapati District /Territorial Army-Assam clocked 1:28:31 to win the top place while Romajit Khundom (1:29:17) from Khundrakpam Awang Leikai and Mudang Omo (1:31:04) from Mudang Dage, Ziro Lower Subansiri district Arunachal Pradesh/Assam Rifles-Happy Valley Shillong finished second and third respectively.

For above 45 years male category, Ningthoujam Basanta Singh from Konchak Makha Leikai, Uchiwa earned the first place with a time of 1 hour 57 minutes and 55 seconds while Bheigyachandra Nongmaithem (2:07:24) from Kakching Laithagol Leikai and Yumnam Brojen Singh (2:10:37) from Nambol Sabal Leikai respectively secured the second and third places.

As a part of the event, an 8 km fun run was also held where 2800 runners (male and female, young and aged, students and teachers, children and adults) participated with a motive of bringing up a healthy society.

Today's significant and momentous event was supported by peoples from different walks of life.
