PCC, YWC off to winning starts in 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament

PCC, Mayaikoibi and YWC, Langthabal kicked off their league campaigns in the 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament on winning notes today.
PCC registered a 15-run victory over Blue Hawk, Khurai Lamlong to open their Group A campaign in style today at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College ground.
Put in to bat first, PCC had a good start thanks to Charoibam Tyson who struck a 74-ball 68 (10 fours and 1 six) before Thokchom Anand smashed an unbeaten 56-ball 74 (6 fours and 2 sixes) to guide the team to 239/5 in the allotted 35 overs.
Rohit Soubam was also unbeaten on 25-ball 25 (2 fours) as Amom Guniram picked three wickets (3/28) for Blue Hawk.
PCC then bundled out Blue Hawk for 224 runs in 33.4 overs despite fighting performances from Mutum Sudhir (42-ball 57), Ningombam Jackleson (43 ball 43) and Farid Manipur (32-ball 41) as L Chingkheihunba (2/21), Rohit Soubam (2/28) and Longjam Ronald Meitei (2/42) put in a concerted effort and shared 6 wickets among them.
Naorem Johnson, Thokchom Anand and Takhelmayum Vikash also chipped in with a wicket apiece for PCC.
Thokchom Anand who starred with a half century and picked one wicket was adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal, YWC-L opened their league campaign (Group B) with a 24 run victory over AKSDO, Khangabok.
YWC won the toss and opted to bat first.
They erected 181 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 28 overs and restricted AKSDO to 157/9 in the chase to seal the 24 run victory.
Ngangbam Bishwash hit a half century (58 off 44 balls; 8 fours and 1 six) and Ngangbam Bikramjit added 46 off 67 balls to help YWC register 181 in an innings that saw Akash Laishram (4/32) and Laishram Rohit (2/36) sharing 6 wickets for AKSDO.
In reply, Akash Laishram scored a 51 -ball 52 for AKSDO but his effort went in vain as they ended up gathering 157 in the face of frugal YWC-L bowlers.
Pukhrambam Prashantamani was the pick of the YWC-L bowlers returning with the best figures of 4/27 while Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba claimed three wickets (3/26) .
Prasantamani was eventually adjudged player of the match.
