AIM, Khabam and TRUGPU, Nambol split points after a 2-2 draw as NISA, Thangmeiband rallied to defeat TRAU, Kwakeithel 2-1 in today's matches of the 8th Manipur State League football tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The evenly contested AIM versus TRUGPU saw the Nambol side break the deadlock in the 44th minute through Sh Meiraba with the former restoring parity in the 66th minute.
Herojit's 68th minute header regained TRUGPU's lead but lasted for less than 10 minutes as N Rajesh ensured a point for the Khabam side with the equaliser in the 76th minute.
In the later match, former champions NISA conceded the lead to TRAU when L Ratan made no mistake in converting a 10th minute penalty award.
L Sanatomba levelled the score in similar fashion beating the TRAU custodian from the spot in the 41st minute while P Romesh struck the match-winner in the 57th.The third win in six matches put NISA in third position in the points table with 10 points, same as second-placed AIM but with inferior goal average that the Khabam side.
SSU, Singjamei lead the race on 11 points from five matches.
Today's defeat is the second loss for TRAU, who remain on 5 points from five matches.
On October 8, USA, Khurai will play NEROCA, Sangakpham at 12.30 pm while MPSC test KSC, Lambulane at 2 pm.
