Wushu training centre opens

With an aim to promote Wushu in the state, Wushu Training School, Nachou has opened its training centre at Kairenphabi under Bishnupur district on Friday.
The newly inaugurated training centre has been opened by the institute as part of its continuous effort towards popularising the sport in remote areas of Manipur.
So far, it had opened centres at Nachou, Ningthoukhong; Moirang; Thanga; Karang Thinungei and in other parts of the district.
Under the supervision of M Ronel, Chief Coach of the school more than 10 international and 70 national Wushu players have been produced since the existence of the institute, which was established for the first time in 2007.Some of the athletes from the training school like N Dev, M Inao and M Nirupama have participated in the 4th World Junior Wushu Championship 2012 .
Apart from participating in national and international Wushu event, players of school and its affiliated centres are also taking part in other martial arts event regularly.
M Ronel, who had earlier worked in SAI regional sub centre, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh as a Wushu Coach disclosed that each year players from the institute were selected for training at SAI, Imphal and other SAI centres.
However, after leaving his job he has been imparting Wushu training in the school.
Currently, a non- residential Wushu training camp is being conducted at Moirang Phairembam in Bishnupur district.
