SSU steamroll YPHUC; SU win n Plate Tournament

SSU hammered YPHUC by L88 runs, while SU achieved a 37-run win against MPA in the league matches of the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament 2024-25 held on Thursday.
SSU's all-round dominance was on full display at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-Ill, Cherapur.
Opting to bat first, SSU posted a formidable total of 233/6, driven by standout performances from Shamurailatpam Deepankar Sharma (57) and Ningombam Sanjoy (53) .
Contributions from Anand Mangang (24), Robertson Th (18), Bindeshwor Sapam (14 not out), and L Somorjit (6 not out) bolstered the innings.
Borish Longjam (3 wickets), Sishwarchandra (2 wickets), and Elam Vicky Singh (1 wicket) were the wicket-takers for YPHUC.
In response, SSU's bowlers dismantled YPHUC's batting lineup, restricting them to a mere 45 runs in 22.3 overs.
Bindeshwor Sapam led the charge with an impressive 4-wicket haul, while Bollanath, Saikhomba Thongam, and Ningombam Sanjoy each claimed two wickets, ensuring a comprehensive victory for their team.
Meanwhile, SU overcame MPA by 37 runs at Lairenjam
Public Ground.
Batting first, SU posted 206/8, with Nongmeikapam Komol Singh (48), Loitong bam Naoton (40 not out) and Rajkumar Pritamkumar Singh (26) leading the scoring.
Valuable contributions came from Hijam Mex Singh (21), Kennedy Singh Karam (19), and Maibam Amitra (11) .
Chingtham Albish Singh, Huidrom Dhanashyam Meitei and Naorem Britain claimed two wickets apiece for MPA.
Despite Yumnam Sheiteendra Singh's gritty knock of 75, MPA's chase fell short, ending at 169/8 in 35 overs.
SU's bowling unit, spearheaded by Ningombam Jonson, Maibam Amitra and Alen Angom (2 wickets each), alongside Rastam Heigrujam (1 wicket), secured their team's win.
