4th Neume Pauheu Memorial Trophy concludes

Imphal, March 05 2019: The 4th edition of Neume Pauheu Memorial Trophy concluded yesterday at Magulong Village, Tousem Sub Division, Tamenglong district with Haitung Goodwills Foundation Club, Tamenglong lifting the title of the football tournament after 2-1 win against Njauna Youth Club, Nagaland in the final.

Haitung Goodwills Foundation Club also claimed the volleyball champions title beating New Nsong Youth Club, Nagaland 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 in the final, said a press release of the organising committee of Neume Pauheu Memorial Trophy.

Deihimrai of Njauna Youth Club Nagaland was adjudged best player while Gainilung Pamei of Haitung emerged top-scorer with 8 goals in his name.

The closing ceremony of the event organised in fond memory of former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Neume Pauheu was attended by Ramningle Pame, Chairperson (Education) ADC as chief guest in place of Awangbou Newmai, 52-Tamei AC as the latter could not turn up due to State's Assembly session and K Liangpibou, Spokesperson ADC, Tamenglong as guest of honour.

The chief guest, in her speech during the closing ceremony, encouraged the young people to work harder to interpret their dreams into reality.

K Liangpibou also advised the youths to have confidence in their talents and maintain discipline as sportsperson to reach the highest level in their professional career.

Altogether 35 teams from Manipur, Assam and Nagaland participated in the tournament the release added.

The organising committee of the tournament also extended heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to Awangbou Newmai, MLA Tamei; Namsinrei Panmei, ADC Tamenglong; Ramningle Pame ADC Tamenglong, K Liangpibou and Armstrong Pame, IAS, Director YAS for their generous help in making the tournament a grand success.

The committee also thanked all the teams for participating in the tournament which kicked off on February 26 .
