UMA lift sub-junior boys title at RFYS Football Nationals

Sub-Junior Boys' team of The Unique Model Academy (UMA) and School Girls' team of Nilmani English School from Manipur were crowned the champions in their respective categories at the RFYS National Football Championship held at Mumbai.
UMA, Manipur overwhelmed their Goa rivals, Progress High School by 4-0 goals in a one sided final match to lift the sub-junior boys' (class VI-VIII) title today.
The Manipur side thoroughly dominated the game right from the onset and it was Suraj Laishram's header that put the team ahead in the 13th minute.
Bigyananda Laishram then converted a penalty well to double UMA's lead before Solendro Chanam rose high to glance home a header off a good cross from the left flank and made it 3-0 for UMA till the break.
Annaroy Soibam who was the heart of UMA attack the game throughout, maintained his fine form and continued to create chances in the second half before finishing a low shot well past the diving Progress High School keeper in the 44th minute.
The Goa side toiled hard to find the face saving goal and earned themselves few corners in the late stage but failed to make the best use of them and eventually had to contend with the runners up title.
Annaroy who was declared player of the match, also won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards.
Meiteinganba Wairokpam of the same team also bagged the Golden Glove Award.
Meanwhile in the School Girls' (Class IX-XII) ultimate clash, Nilmani English School rode on goals by Yumnam Luxmi and Thoibisana Toijam to beat St Josephs International School, Hisar 2-1 .
The Manipur team started brightly with Yumnam Laxmi opening up the account early in the 10th minute but the Hisar team fought back and pulled level through Varsha in the 17th minute.
It was an end to end affair in the remaining portion of the game and the game almost ended in a goalless draw during normal time but Thoibisana Toijam converted a last ditch effort during the stoppage time (60+2') and successfully earned Nilmani English School a 2-1 win and the title of the category.
Keisham Melody was adjudged player of the match.
