Wangkheirakpam Tomba, who is known as Golden Tomba after he helped Manipur to win Santosh Trophy for the first time with his golden goal in 2002, has observed that all the matches of FIFA World Cup, which is being organized after every four years in different countries, are valuable and they influence the youngsters to become famous players.
So, watching the matches is a must for all football loving people.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Tomba said that we should not watch the matches of FIFA World Cup as some sort of amusement or spend time only in watching the matches.
We should learn from watching these matches and put them into practice.
He recalled that Manipur was once a remarkable state in the field of Football.
But now it seems that game of Football is gradually losing its charm in the state.
In such a situation, the commencement of World Cup could provide the much need impetus for infusing interest in football again.
At present, Tomba is playing for IMG Reliance.
Earlier, he had played in popular clubs like AIR India, Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers, and Rangadajied.
As a fanatic fan of Lionel Messi of Argentina and the Angentina team, Tomba said with confidence that host country Brazil will emerge winner in World Cup this time too.
Tomba drew the attention of the government of Manipur to ensure uninterrupted power supply so that the football loving people in Manipur could watch all the matches of World Cup.
Tomba said that as in previous years, he will be watching the show on big screen along with friends at Nongmeibung Club.
