Imphal, July 03 2013:
Ningthoujam Bidyapati, who became the first Manipur woman to scale the Mt.
Everest, was felicitated in a function organised by Young Women Help Organisation at the Mini Auditorium of Hotel Excellency here today.
Kim Gangte, Ex-MP; Thokchom Surbala, Advisor of the organisation and Ch Binoya Devi, Secretary of the organisation attended the felicitation function as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Bidyapati said that mountaineering is quite different from other sports because it has no audience.
Apart from money and training it also requires physical fitness.
"My fellow climbers have been given promotion by their respective state governments; Arunima of Haryana has been promoted to DSP and Wangshuk Myrthong of Meghalaya to ASI, but I don't know when my promotion would come," Bidyapati lamented over the apathy of state government towards Mount Everest conquerors from Manipur.
