Asian Boxig Championships Sarjubala, Pinki to lead Indian challenge

New Delhi, July 02 2015 :
World Championships silver-medallist S Sarjubala Devi (48kg) of Manipur and Commonwealth Games bronze-winner Pinki Rani will spearhead a 10-strong Indian challenge at the Asian Women's Boxing Championships in Wulanchabu (China) from August 5 to 14 .
With MC Mary Kom recovering from niggles, Pinki will be a top medal hope in the 51 kg division along Sarjubala.
Pinki had won a god medal at this year's President's Cup Tournament in Indonesia.

The team also features another Word silver-medallist in Saweety (81kg).Shiv Singh will accompany the team as head coach.
The boxers were picked after trials conducted here last week by the five-member ad-hoc committee which has been appointed by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) .
The Committee was constituted after fresh adminis- trative turmoil in Boxing India led to the ouster of President Sandeep Jajodia and Secretary General Jay Kowli.
The team : Sarjubala Devi Shamjetsabam (48 Kg), Pinki Rani (51 Kg), Meena Kumari Devi Maisnam (54 Kg), Pwilao Basumatary (57 Kg), Priyanka Chauhdary(60 Kg), Pavitra (64 Kg), Monica Saun (69 Kg), Pooja Rani (75 Kg), Saweety (81 Kg), Seema Poonia (+81 Kg) .
