U-14 AITA National Ranking Super Series : Bhusan Haobam, Neeraj Thokchom advance into second round

Imphal, April 02 2018: The U-14 AITA National Ranking Super Series organised by Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) under the supervision of All India Tennis Association kicked off at IDTA sports complex with 64 tennis players from across 16 States of India participating in it.

The inaugural function of the tournament was graced by Deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar Singh as chief guest.

Manipur's Bhusan Haobam registered his first win over Gandhi Sidhant to book his place in the pre quarter stage of boys' singles.

Haobam Bhusan convincingly took on Sidhant to post a 6-1, 6-2 win in this match.

In other matches, Anchit Gogoi edged out Karthik Kavin by 2-1 sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-1) while Neeraj Thokchom of Manipur also advanced into next round beating Samar Malhotra 6-3, 6-1 .

Sadly Manipur's Rahul Pamei had to end his campaign with a 4-6, 3-6 loss to Krish Waghani.

Obrien Wyatt Row defeated Aditya Rathi in another match with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 while Joshua Johi defeated Pasam Mohan Reddy 6-3, 6-3.Tamoghna Das also cruised into next round by beating Suhrudh Kiliveti 6-3, 6-1 while Pranav Heggere sealed his next round with a 6-2, 6-3 straightforward win over Priyanshu Antil.

In the next match, Dhananjay Athreya outlasted Cepha Paul with a double bagel while Aaryaan Qureshi outclassed Tarnish Deepak 6-2, 6-2 .

In the following boy's singles matches Arya Bhattacharya beat Pratham Chopra 7-6 (5), 6-3 while Nithisbaal Nalluswamy got better of Jigyasman Hazarika 6-1, 6-3 to move into next round.

Arunava Mazumdar also booked a place in the next round by overcoming Karthik Vaddepalli 6-2, 6-4 while Andy Thaosen beat qualifier Bhicky Sagolshem narrowly with 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in a hard fought match.

Manan Nath also outclassed Ashwajit Senjam 6-1, 6-4 while Lalhruaizela beat Raghuvanshi in another match to roll into next round (pre quarter stage) .

In the singles events for girls, Bindyarani Lamabam of Manipur dumped Archita Sahoo 6-4, 6-4 to sail into next round while in the next match, Riyah Dugar beat Tanishqa Patar 6-4, 6-4 to move into next round.

In other match, Anoouska Sinha sailed past Ananya Borthakur 6-0, 6-1 while Sohini Sanj Mohanty also registered an easy 6-3, 6-0 against Nemha Sara.
