Manipur went down by 2 wickets to Jammu and Kashmir in a keenly contested Group C match of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 .
Put in to bat first at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Manipur gathered 110 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs thanks to Kangabam Priyojit's 27 and Ngariyanbam Johnson's 39 .
Jammu and Kashmir then struggled their way to winning 113 with only 2 wickets and 2 balls left to spare.
Qamran Iqbal 26, Vivrant Sharma 22 and Abid Mushtaq 29 not out were the leading run getters for Jammu and Kashmir in an innings that saw K Bishwoijit (4/18) and Kishan Singha (3/10) sharing 7 wickets for Manipur.
Jotin Pheiroijam also picked a wicket (1/33) .
For Jammu and Kashmir, Rasikh Salam 3/30 and Auqib Nabi 2/16 shared five wickets between them as Yudhvir Singh, Abid Mushtaq and Sahil Lotra claimed a wicket apiece.
Earlier, Manipur had suffered defeats in the hands of big teams including Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Manipur will play Arunachal Pradesh in the next match on December 3 at Wankhede Stadium from 4.30 pm before taking on Himachal Pradesh in the last group stage match on December 5 at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai from 1.30 pm .
