Sagolband Kendra football tourney begins

Imphal, December, 01 2012: Sagolband Kendra 7-A-Side Open Football Tournament organised by the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) has commenced today at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Ground.

MLA Karam Thamarjit, MLA RK Imo and MLA Paonam Brojen graced the opening ceremony as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA RK Imo said that the tournament is being organised with an aim to bring peace, unity and the sense of brotherhood, especially in Sagolband Constituency.

He also asserted that the tournament will help in uniting the youths of the constituency and bring out more successful sportspersons.

MLA Thamarjit also urged the people to strive for a developed and peaceful society where there is no difference in cast or creed.

SSAN, Thangjam Leirak and Welfare Club, Amudon Akham Leikai played the opening match today.

In a one sided match, SSAN, Thangjam Leirak blanked Welfare Club, Amudon Akham Leikai with 10 goals and registered their first win.

Altogether 19 teams are participating in the tournament.
