Boxing summer camp concludes

The 42 days long first State level nonresidential special summer boxing coaching camp (July 20 to August 31) for men and women organised by New Checkon Boxing Academy (NCBA) in collaboration with New Checkon Youth Club (NCYC) under the aegis of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) held at New Checkon club ground has been concluded yesterday, stated a press release issued by MABA.
The camp was altogether participated by 50 boxers including 30 boys and 20 girls.
Coaches, T Seconder Singh and S Sunny Singh trained the boxers in the camp while ex-SAI coach Sorokhaibam Dhanabir Singh who is also the NCBA coach headed the camp as the coach in-charge.

The main objective of the camp was to inspire and encourage the young generation to refrain from drugs and lead a health life through true discipline that sports has to bestow.
The closing ceremony of the camp was presided by Deputy Manager SBI, Imphal, Thoudam Komol Singh while Secretary General MABA, Khoibi Salam attended the function as the chief guest.
The dignitaries who attended the fuction as the guests of honour were Advisor Joint Secretary Women Affairs MABA, Y Romola Devi; ex-president NCYC, ex-branch manager Oriental Insuarance Company Pvt Ltd, Pukhrambam Vivekananda Singh and Advisor NCYC, N Radhamandhop Singh.
While Speaking as the functional president, Th Komol Singh centred his speech on the importance of discipline in a boxers career.
Further, he stated by setting an example that without 'discipline' a sports persons life is as insecure as a garden without its fences.
Khoibi Salam in his speech as the chief guest urged the upcoming young boxers to work hard while he encouraged them by assuring that MABA will always stand as a pillar to the building blocks of the promising boxers of the camp and NCBA.
As he concluded his speech he assured extension of his support in all the efforts that the youths of NCYC and NCBA have lined up to develop in the field of sports and its infrastructure.
In one of the most inspiring speeches by P Vivekananda Singh, he explained how Bruce Lee died due to intake of medicine which he had not consulted.
He emphasized on the importance of understanding the criticality of seeking medication under training.
The function was culminated by several boxing bouts exhibited in front of the dignitaries.
