Ukhrul football development programme concludes

The football development programme conducted by Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School ground, Ukhrul from August 18 concluded today.
The event organised under the AMFA Football Development Programme with the aim of tapping talented footballers of the district was conducted in the under-14 age group.
During the closing ceremony attended by Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner (IAS) Suthan R, UDSA president SR Luikham and AMFA secretary L Ranjit Roy as the chief guest, president and guest of honour, certificates were handed over to participants of the programme held at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School along with those who took part in a similar football development programme held from July 25 till August 11 at Tangkhul Naga Long ground, Ukhrul.
In his brief speech as the chief guest, Suthan R describing the joint initiative of AMFA and UDSA to promote football in the district as overwhelming and commendable assured all possible contribution in the development of Tangkhul Naga Long ground ahead of the forthcoming national level Shirui Cup football tournament to be hosted by UDSA in October.
Meanwhile, the 11th Subedar M Kazipmi Memorial Trophy football league tournament organised by UDSA will begin from September 7 at TNL ground.
It is informed that based on performance of teams in the tournament representatives of Ukhrul district will be selected to participate in the Shirui Trophy tournament.
The winner of the league tournament will be awarded Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 to the runners-up in addition to other awards.
Submission of entries will be entertained till September 3 while a meeting of participating team managers has been convened on September 5 at 11 am at the UDSA office.
