I-Day tourney underway, friendly football held

Imphal, August 09 2022: To commemorate the 75th year of Independence Day under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Fit India Movement, Moreh Battalion of 1GAR (S) along with Moreh Youth Club (MYC) organised an Independence Day Football Tournament 2022 at Gamnom Veng, Moreh since August 5.In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that 10 clubs of Tengnoupal district are participating in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion organised a friendly football match on August 6 with the firm motive to promote the oldest football tournament in Asia 'Durand Cup 2022' at Tengnoupal district headquarters ground between the Tengnoupal Youth Club.

According to PRO IGAR (S), over 250 people of Tengnoupal village, including chiefs, troops and children attended and enjoyed the match, which Tengnoupal Youth Club won by 2-1 margin against the team of Battalion.

The event culminated with prize distribution for the teams and distribution of gifts such as volleyballs and footballs to 10 neighbouring villages of Lamkang Khunou, Phalbung, Tengnoupal, Senam, Chelep, Saivom, Loisi, Chamol, Leitan, Lonte, which was followed by tea and light refreshments for the villagers and children.
