1st NE Women's Football League : Arunachal Pradesh Tigers, Meghalaya Leopards squeeze into semis

Meghalaya Leopards and Arunachal Pradesh squeezed into the semifinals of the 1st North East Women's Football League Tournament registering wins in their penultimate matches today at SAI ground, Takyel.
Arunachal Pradesh Tigers beat Mizoram BlackrBears by a slender 1-0 margin today to seal the third spot in the 8-team league tournament organised by the All Manipur Football Association under the sponsorship of Anantpura Sports Events Pvt Ltd, Rajasthan and set up semifinal date with second placed Sikkim Pandas (17 points from 5 wins and 2 draws) .
The lone goal that helped Arunachal Pradesh Tigers earn the semi-final ticket was scored by Kai Rumi in the 35th minute.
With the result, Mizoram Black Bears finished without a win and only with 1 point off a draw with Tripura Pythons.
Later in the 28th and a crucial last league match of the tournament, Meghalaya Leopards saw off Nagaland Wild Hogs 2-0 thanks to Rushia (33') and' Nisilia Majaw (58') for the third win and to finish fourth on 10 points, and set up semi-final date with league winners, Manipur.
Even as Meghalaya Leopards sealed the game, they were reduced to 10-man at the end with Khushi receiving a second yellow card during the stoppage time.
The first semi-final match between Manipur Sangais and Meghalaya Leopards starts at 12.30 pm on July 22 before Sikkim Pandas play Arunachal Pradesh Tigers from 3 pm .
