Core Committee for Gorkha football tourney formed

Imphal, December 19 2021: A Core Committee for hosting the All Manipur Gorkha Football Tournament was formed during a meeting held at AMGSU Office, Kanglatongbi on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by 14 different clubs of Manipur along with Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union and Manipur Gorkha Youth Association which nominated the AMGSU games and sports secretary Rajen Thapa as the ex-officio of the Core Committee along with 15 other members from different Gorkha clubs of Manipur.

The meeting also unanimously resolved that Serou Gorkha Youth Club will host the 30th All Manipur Gorkha Sports Meet, the Core Committee will set and prepare the guidelines for the All Manipur Gorkha Football Tournament before the commencement of 31st All Manipuri Gorkha Football Tournament and the host for the 31st All Manipur Gorkha Football Tournament will be announced by the Core Committee on the day of final match of 30th All Manipuri Gorkha Football Tournament hosted by Serou.

It also agreed that All Manipur Gorkha Football Tournament will be held under the banner of AMGSU as it was the organisation which first started hosting the tournament back in 1991 and that All Manipur Gorkha Football Tournament will only be held once in a year and no other village/club will be allowed to host or organise sporting events under this name without the consent of the Core Committee.
