MSL: GSC beat NEROCA to top group as YPHU down Muvanlai

Imphal, December 18 2021: YPHU (Lalambung Makhong) and GSC (Chura-chandpur) carried the day in the Saturday's fixtures of the 14th Manipur State League.

YPHU scored inboth halves to seal a convincing 2-0 win over Muvanlai Athletics in their Group B encounter at Artificial Turf Ground, Lam-long Thongkhong.

The Lalambung side had to sweat it out for gruelling 25 minutes to set up M Manisana who slotted home their opener.

After conceding, Muvanlai launched a flurry of attacks but they were unable to get the desired results with YPHU putting up a resolute defence to lead through the first-half contest.

After the interval, YPHU capitalised on another defensive slip-up of their opponents to extend their lead in the 54th minute with P Renedy on target.

Muvanlai failed to make use of the remaining minutes as YPHU successfully defended their 2-0 lead for all three points.

GSC, meanwhile, carved out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over NEROCA FC in their Group A match.

S Thanglalrem Gangte's goal in the 25th minute was enough for the Churacahnd-pur squad to earn maximum points.

With the result, GSC now top the Group B table with 10 points from four games.

On Sunday, KIYC (Kshetrigao) take on DMRAO (Awang Sekmai) in a Group A match.
