ESU, UKB ease to quarterfinals of Manoranjan football tournament

Imphal, January 15 2022: ESU and UKB cruised into the quarterfinals of the 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament after their victories on Saturday.

P Naoba ran riot scoring four goals to steer ESU to an emphatic 5-1 victory over SFC on their way to the last eight.

P Naoba opened the scoring in the 34th minute, collected his second goal in the 44th minute and completed a hat-trick in the 71st minute after P James netted for SFC in the 68th minute.

Then Lunminhao was on target to put ESU 4-1 up in the 87th minute before P Naoba fired home his fourth goal in the 88th minute to wrap up the victory.

UKB (Churachandpur), meanwhile, earned their place in the quar terfinals with a comfortable 3-1 triumph over XI-Star (Aitampat).

The Churachandpur side started strongly with a 5th minute opener from Paolenlal and the team went further ahead in the 22nd minute courtesy of Seiminthang before XI-Star pulled a goal back in the 86th minute through Giftson.

UKB reclaimed their two-goal cushion in the 90th minute with Lalminlun on strike and closed out the game in style.
