Tennis: Bushan, Shanker book singles semis spots

Imphal, November 06 2024: Haobam Bushan and Shanker Heishnam have advanced to the semifinals of the AITA Men's 1 Lakh National Ranking Tournament 2024 after securing quarterfinal victories on Wednesday.

Bushan claimed his spot in the final four with a decisive 6-3, 6-3 win over Naveen N, setting up a semifinal match against Gagan RV, who recovered from a set down to defeat Anshuman S 3-6, 6-2, 6 -1 in the other quarterfinal.

Shanker Heishnam, meanwhile, earned his semifinal berth with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Rajeshwar RP.

He will next face Ranjalkar AP, who overcame Neelam D 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in their quarterfinal clash.

In addition to their singles semifinal berths, Bushan and Heishnam are also one step away from securing the doubles title, having reached the final with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Rana and Devam.

They will vie for the doubles trophy against Anshumat and Anshuman, who advanced with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Saksham and Yasharath in the other semifinal.
