Tennis: Bushan, Shanker advance to quarters

Imphal, November 05 2024: The state duo of Bushan Haobam and Shanker Heishnam advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles event in the AITA Men's 1 Lakh National Ranking Tennis Tournament on Tuesday at Officers' Club Tennis Court, Lamphel.

Bushan earned a smooth passage into the last eight with a 6-2 6-2 drubbing of Darsh Agrawal, while Shanker outclassed Yasharth Chaddha 6-16-2 to join fellow Bushan in the quarterfinals.

Also moving into the singles quarterfinals were Naveen N, Anshuman S, Gagan RV, Neelam D, Ranjalkar AP and Rajeshwar RP.

The quarterfinal fixtures pit Bushan Haobam against Naveen N, Shanker Heishnam against Rajeshwar RP, Neelam D against Ranjalkar AP, and Gagan RV against Anshuman S.In the doubles event, Bushan Haobam and Shanker Heishnam defeated the pair of Vimal and Neelam 7-5 6-1 to reach the semifinals, where the state duo will face Rana and Devam.

The other semifinal will see Saksham and Yasharath take on Anshumat and Anshman.
