Kangpokpi, October 24 2019:
Taking serious note of the alleged decision of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) upon FC Zalen, the apex body of all football clubs within Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, United Football Clubs' Association (UFCA), Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District condemned the State football governing body in the strongest term.
The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) had resolved to debar the football giant of Sadar Hills, FC Zalen from participating in the 13th Manipur State League during its special general body meeting on September 23 and released the club from MSL to their respective District Sports Association, i.e.DSA Sadar Hills.
Following the decision of AMFA, the District Sports Association Sadar Hills had reportedly appealed through various representations to the football governing body to reconsider its decision upon FC Zalen.
Thangboi Kipgen, general secretary, UFCA Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District said that the decision of AMFA upon FC Zalen and failure to reconsider its decision is very unfortunate.
He continued that FC Zalen is a flourishing football club in the district, serving as a platform for many young football players not only from the district but across the State to expose their talent while adding that there might have occurred unwanted incidents or misunderstanding sometime but AMFA has been expected to maintain inclusive management during such crucial situation.
He also pointed out that it was AMFA officials who suggested the officials of DSA Sadar Hills and FC Zalen to appeal the football governing body to reconsider its decision but when the same have been done as suggested on several occasions, it (AMFA), especially the president remained a mute spectator.
While questioning the inclusiveness of AMFA, the association also said that the mindset of AMFA leaders could become a stumbling block for cordial relationships among the hills and valley based football associations and clubs.
Following its alleged decision and failure to reconsider even after various appealed through representations from the concerned bodies, the hill based football clubs and association, especially from Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District have lost confidence upon the State football governing body, said Thangboi.
