Willong circle sports meet concludes

The week-long sports meet of Willong Circle Youth & Students Organization (WCYSO) concluded at Pumdumlong village under Willong Sub-Division.
With the theme "Connecting the Willong circle & beyond", the sports meet was represented by 10 units competing in different games.
The valedictory programme was graced by Re-gina Hongray, deputy secretary (finance/works) as chief guest, Koshoni Phimu, under secretary (GAD/MI/MA) as guest of honour, Rang David, SDO Phungyar, as functional president and Kangbing John, social worker, as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Angamla Regina Hongray called for women empowerment in every field especially in education, social works and sports participation.
"Changes will grow when our daughters, sisters & girl child are given importance & priority in providing education facilities in our society," she concluded.
Koshoni Phimu asked the people to promote women's leadership in every held including politics and social organisations.
"Women since past years have been associated with any people's movement and issues in front-line like men folks and it has been successful.
Therefore, it is time women folks also hold responsibilities and participate in leadership," she said.
SDO Rang David called for promoting unity during crucial times and sports is an opportunity to come together and meet each others, adding that sports is not only a festival of showcasing our talents but demonstration of leadership and discipline.
Kangbing John praised God for new officers and personalities in different fields from Willong circle villages and he appealed to all to promote young girls in different sports disciplines.
The final day concluded with an intense but disciplined football match between champion contenders Kapyiilamei and Willong Khunou teams in which former won by a 1-0 margin through an impressive indirect kick during the last minute.
Rajaimei village boys were crowned the volleyball men's champions while Abung club won the women's volleyball.
It was attended by ADC member Rangpung John, CSOs leaders, northern Maram youths, Willong circle leaders, village leaders, women and youth leaders from all villages.
