SU steamroll DMRAO 8-0 as GSC edge TRAU in State League

Imphal, January 15 2022: Sagolband United stormed past DMRAO 8-0 as GSC recorded a 3-2 success against TRAU FC in 14th Manipur State League on Saturday.

The day also saw SSU and YUFC play out a 1-1 draw.

Ch Anandkumar scored a hat-trick in Sagolband United's 8-0 demolition of DMRAO.

Basanta Moirang registered the first shot on target in the 32nd minute and Anandkumar extended the lead in the space of six minute before Paokhongam tripled the advantage in the 44th minute.

After the break, Anandkumar was at it again in the 52nd minute to Kick-start their second-half barrage as Thanglenngam made it 5-0 in the 74th minute and then Elminhao Kilong netted their sixth goal four minutes later.

Already leading 6-0, the Sagolband side were in no mood to relent till the very last minute as Christopher continued their scoring spree with a 90th-minute strike before Anandkumar completed his treble and team's scoring in the final seconds of stoppage time.

GSC (Churachandpur), meanwhile, were made to work hard by TRAU FC in their 3-2 triumph as Mangjoel emerged as the hero for the Churachandpur squad.

After a goalless first period, the game burst into life when Mangjoel put GSC ahead in the 49th minute.

Their lead, however, lasted seven minutes after Th Nani put TRAU FC on level terms after finding the back of the net.

TRAU then turned the tables when Nepolian slotted home their second goal in the 73rd minute.

Three minutes later, Mangjoel netted his second goal to draw level for GSC and then Thanglalrem converted in the 78th minute as his goal eventually tilted the scales in favour of the Churchandpur team.

SSU and YUFC settled for a point each after their game ended in a 1-1 draw.

L Roshan gave SSU the lead in the 24th minute before Ayat Chiphang's 72nd-minute goal salvaged the 1-1 result for his side.
