MLA Haokholet Kipgen opens 7th Friendship Tournament 2022

The 7th Friendship Tournament 2022 organised by Mayangkhang Ningthoupham Youth Club (MNYC) was opened by Haokholet Kipgen, MLA 51-Saitu A/C, as chief guest and YK Moses, social worker, as functional president.
In his keynote address, BK Theiba, president MNYC, stated that the Friendship Tournament is a tradition that started in the year 2015.The tournament has been participated by various communities like Thadou Kuki, Meitei, Nepali and Naga.
The primary focus of the tournament is to nurture friendship among different cultural groups through sports so as to understand each other's culture and needs and to extend helping hands to one another to make the world a better place, he said.
The tournament also aims to encourage and motivate the youth to excel in the field of sports.
YK Moses, social worker, stated that the tournament is aimed at bringing different communities of the region together to build friendship through sports.
Chief guest MLA Haokholet Kipgen in his speech lauded the organisers for organising such an event to bring unity among different communities.
He said that sports has become a part and parcel of life and urged the organisers to plan for bigger tournament in the days to come.
Chief minister of the state is trying his best to bring unity in all parts of the state and such tournament could contribute to his dream, he added.
The MLA urged the gathering to be united in mind and spirit for progress of all and be successful in future.
15 football clubs are competing in the tournament.
In the first match, RUF beat Bony FC 1-0, MYSO FC defeated ACC KPI 8-0 in the second match, and MNYC (host team) downed YACSO 1-0 in the third match.
The tournament will continue till September 23 .
