Senapati SC clinch District level men's volleyball tourney title

Senapati, July 21 2024:
Senapati Sporting Club won the District Level Men's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), organised the men's volleyball tournament, which commenced on July 16, 2024 in Senapati district.
The tournament drew 13 teams representing various villages and clubs across the district.
The final match held on July 20 witnessed an intense showdown between Warriors Volleyball Club and Senapati Sporting Club.
Senapati Sporting Club emerged victorious, claiming the district championship title.
Speaking during the event, Col Aditya Deo, commandant of the 16th Assam Rifles at Maram, noted that a similar volleyball competition had previously been held at the village level in the Maram region, T/Khullen.
Senapati, as the district headquarters, is the hub of activity, and the first district level volleyball competition began with 13 teams.
The Assam Rifles held a number of events to encourage sports in the region, he explained.
The Assam Rifles once organised the Robert Cup, which included football and cricket, district level men's and women s basketball, and a district level women's volleyball event.
Seeing the young of the district who enjoy sports, the Assam Rifles has been organising several competitions in the district to encourage the youth and their passions for physical fitness and better health, the commandant added, promising to continue such tournaments in the future.
Col Aditya Deo also encouraged the winning team to maintain their momentum and win more titles.
In the meantime, he encouraged the losing team of the final match not to give up, but to fight harder and win another day.
Although the prize money was lower this time, the CO stated that what mattered most was that they participated, and that other viewers cheered them on and enjoyed the environment.
The commandant also challenged the players to keep up the spirit to win big in the future.
He handed over the trophy and cash prizes to the winners and the runners-up.
Individual prizes were awarded to Rotciv of Senapati Sporting Club (best lifter), Navei of Warrior Volleyball Club (best spiker) and Sakil of Senapati Sporting Club (player of the tournament) .
