Swimming medallists honoured

Central Swimming Club organised a felicitation programme for state swimmers at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal on Sunday.
The state team delivered impressive results at the 40th Sub-Junior & 50th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2024, held from August 6 to 11 in Bhubaneshwar (Odis-ha), bringing home six gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
Koijam Athoiba achieved a remarkable feat by winning four gold medals during the competition.
He made a clean sweep of 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 50m butterfly events in the sub-junior group III to give Manipur four gold medals.
Laitonjam Punghen, on the other hand, won the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke event and also added a bronze (50m butterfly) to his kitty.
Laitonjam Lanchenba contributed to the team's success by securing gold medal in the 100m butterfly event in the junior group III, as well as silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 200m butterfly.
Also, Peter Soram earned silver in the 200m breaststroke junior group II.
Nongthombam Budha, M Pravesh, David Sapam and Athouba S were also part of the state team.
