Japhou-A, win Sirti football tourney, veteran title for Changnhe

Imphal, January 25 2023: Sh Marconi netted twice to help Japhou-A claim 3-1 win over Monsang Pantha YCC in the final of the 15th Sirti Football Tournament 2023 played at Liwa Sarei Ground, Chandel on Wednesday.

W Roger opened the scoring for Japhou-A in the 21st minute before Sh Marconi (28, 5l) scored a double.

Henry reduced the deficit for Monsang Pantha in the 79th minute but it was too little too late as Japhou held on to lay their hands on the winners' trophy.

Meanwhile, Changnhe overcame Liwachangning on penalties to win the veteran category of the tournament.

After a 0-0 deadlock, the game went into the penalty shootout where Changnhe prevailed 4-3 against their opponents through conversions by Bengamshing, Moningka, Colleng and Thau jantin.
