9th MNCA Plate Tournament: Fifties by Sh Deepankar and N Sanjoy, Bindeshwor's four wicket haul earn SSU 188-run victory

SSU, Singjamei notched up comprehensive 188 run victory against YPHUC, Lalambung Makhong as SU, Sagolband defeated MPA, Thounaojam by 37 runs to open their group campaign in the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament on winning notes.
In the Group B league match staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, Shamurailatpam Deepankar Sharma (57 off 55 balls) and Ningombam Sanjoy (53 off 48 balls) and 56 extras helped SSU post 233 runs for 6 wickets in 33 overs.
They bowled out toss winners YPHUC for 45 runs in 22.3 overs riding on Bindeshwor Sapam's four wicket haul (4/9 in 7 overs including 4 maidens) to clinch the huge 188 run victory.
Bollanath (2/7 in 5 overs), Saikhomba Thongam (2/1 in 1.3 overs) and Ningombam Sanjoy (2/5 in 3 overs) also claimed two wickets apiece to set up the huge win for SSU as only Jangammei Maringmei (12) registered double digit runs for YPHUC in the chase while 4 batters got out on ducks.
For YPHUC, Borish Longjam (3/28) and S Ishwarchandra (2/41) shared 5 wickets.
S Bindeshwor who was unbeaten on 14 and led the SSU bowling attack with a four wicket haul was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere in a Group A match staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, SU got off to a flying start as they racked up 206 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 35 overs before restricting MPA to 169/8 to seal a 37 run victory.
Nongmeikapam Komol (48 off 32 balls) and Loitongbam Naoton (40 off 55 balls) led the SU scoring after they won the toss and opted to bat first while Huidrom Dhanashyam scored a 57-ball 75 for MPA in a lost cause.
Chingtham Albish (2/43), Huidrom Dhanashyam (2/37) and Naorem Britain (2/40) claimed a wicket apiece for MPA before Dhanashyam produced a standout performance by knocking 9 fours and 3 sixes on the way to his 57-ball 75 .
For SU, Ningombam Jonson (2/26), Maibam Amitra (2/34) and Alen Angom (2/32) claimed two wickets apiece to keep the MPA batters in check.
Alen Angom of SU was adjudged player of the match.
