Stage set for MU Inter College Men's Football Tournament semis

Imphal, October 29 2024: The semi-final line up of the ongoing Ayekpam Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Men's Football Tournament hosted by Kha Manipur College, Kakching at its playground.

In the first quarterfinal match of the tournament, Naorem Birahari College (NBC) overcame Biramangol College (BMC) 3-1 on penalties after they were locked at 1-1 at regulation time.

It were NBC who opened the scoring in the 37th minute through E Suranjoy but L Dhananjoy pulled level for Biramangol College in the 54th minute to keep the competition open.

As the two sides remained unseparated till the regulation time, the winners were decided by penalty shoot-out where O Ranjan, L Bishochandra and E Suranjoy scored for NBC and only L Meiraba found the target for BMC.

In the second quarterfinal match of the tournament, hosts Kha Manipur College (KMC) thumped CI College 2-0 to set up a semi-final date with NBC.

KMC and CI College entered into the break goalless but KMC shifted gears in the second half and took the lead after 55 minutes through Samir before Romen struck the decisive goal in the 67th minute.

The third quarterfinal match between Kamakhya Pemton College and Regional College, however, was interrupted after the break following a walk-out staged by Regional College.

Later, KPC were awarded a 3-0 win as per tourney conduct rule.

Later in the last quarterfinal match, Kakching Khunou College rode on a brace from E Birendrakumar (22', 35+3') to outlast Mangolnganbi College and set up a semi-final date with KPC.
