7 Men's Gospel Soccer Tournament kicks off at Shangji village

Noney, January 25 2023:
The 3rd 7 Men's Gospel Soccer Tournament kicked off on Wednesday at Shangji Village Common Ground, Noney district, The tournament is organised by Shangji Baptist Church RBCC under the motto: "Youth for Christ" .
Kenan Kamei, managing director Kabilan Manufacture & Construction Work (KMC), Longmai; former president RNCM Kabiduan Gonmei, village authority chairman, Longsai; Adai Dangmei, chairman Villages Council Longmai Area; and Daigong Gonmei, president RNCM Longmai Lu-angrian, attended the opening ceremony.
The dignitaries were warmly welcomed with traditional "Ho-hoing" .
The programme began with an opening prayer by R Gai-cha, pastor of Shangji Baptist Church, followed by flag hoisting by the chief guest.
During his speech, chief guest Kenan Kamei highlighted the importance of sports and encouraged youths to work hard to save family and society from poverty.
He also assured to extend help in developing Shangji Common Ground, in response to a joint memorandum submitted by Shangji Village Authority and Sports Organising Committee.
Kenan Kamei gave monetary gift to the organising committee, Shangji women society dance troupe and guest singer.
Guest of honour Kabiduan Gonmei encouraged all the participating teams to show sportsmanship while playing.
He also urged all to maintain good relationship between neighbouring villages as practiced by forefathers.
In his vote of thanks, organising committee chairman Ph David thanked dignitaries for their presence and assurance given for playground development.
14 teams from Noney, Bisnupur, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts are participating in the tournament.
In the opening match, Chinikon FC beat Pongrin-glong FC by a 6-2 margin, while Khoupum Taodaijang FC defeated Charoi Taokomjang FC 9-2 in the second match.
