Liwa Sarei, Japhou emerge champions

Imphal, January 24 2023: Liwa Sarei emerged champions of the women's category while Japhou won the pre-veteran title in the 15th Sirti Football Tournament 2023 at Liwa Sarei Ground, Chandel on Tuesday.

In the women's final, Liwa Sarei beat Monsang Pantha YCC in a penalty shoptout after the two teams remained 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

In the shootout, the Liwa Sarei women claimed a 3 -1 victory against their opponents.

W Gracemi, W Salomi and Sh Sundary converted their attempts to help their team win the women's football tournament.

On the other hand, Japhou came from behind to snatch a 2 -1 win over Liwa Changning in the final of the pre-veteran competition.

Ng Phanshir gave Liwa the lead in the 22nd minute before Sh Mosaingam (62) and Ng Samson (74) scored to overturn the scores for Japhou's title triumph.
