SSU beat NAPSA by 81 runs in MNCA Plate Tourney

SSU, Singjamei Kakwa beat NAPSA Kha lmphal by 81 runs via VJD Method in a rain interrupted Group A match of the 6th MNCA Plate Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, SSU posted a modest target of 206 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 40 overs and held NAPSA to 112 for 9 in 25 overs before rain interrupted the game.
Eventually the VJD method was applied and the target was revised at 194 runs in 25 overs.
With NAPSA only making 112 runs in 25 overs, SSU emerged winners by 81 runs.
In their innings SSU had a stuttering start and slipped to 42 for 3 in 8.2 overs as Rocky Yumnam wreaked havoc and removed top order trio of Robertson Th (4), Lenin Thounaojam (6) and Sujeet L (8) cheaply.
Dingku G (34), Jayananda P (22) and Gungkham Gugu (22) however held their nerves to steady the innings before Rupachandra hit an unbeaten 52 off 63 balls and took SSU past the 200 run mark.
NAPSA's Rocky returned with the best bowling figures of 3 for 41 in 8 overs in this innings as Heisnam Boney finished with two wickets for 25 runs.
Tongbram Dhanakuber Singh, Chingkhei Singh Kshetrimayum and Bipin Singh Ningthoujam also picked a wicket each to help check SSU's batting today.
In reply, NAPSA had a forgettable innings as wickets kept falling in regular intervals with Chungkham Gugu leading the bowling attack.
With Gugu bowling out Heisnam Boney (3) in the second over and trapping Richard Singh Kshetrimayum (3) lbw in the 6th over, NAPSA were reduced to 26 for 3.The slump continued with Gugu taking two more wickets including Sengtung (22) who made the highest score in the chase.
Saikhomba Thongam clinched two wickets to make it 86 for 8 for NAPSA after 18.3 overs before Adk Rakesh removed the 9th wicket in the 23rd over.
Rocky Yumnam (11') and Soibam Roben (1) were on the crease as rain interrupted the innings.
Eventually Chungkham Gugu who added 22 runs off 28 balls and snatched four wickets in 8 overs to derail the NAPSA chase, was adjudged man of the match.
YAC, Yaiskul will play RRCC, Churachandpur in the second Group B league match and tourney's fourth match tomorrow at Langthabal Public Ground.
