State eves beat TN 2-1 in Sr Women's NFC

Imphal, December 18 2024: Manipur, having already qualified for the semifinals, continued their peerless form with a 2-1 win over Tamil Nadu in the 29 th Senior Women's National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground, Narainpur, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.

Tamil Nadu made an early breakthrough in the 5th minute courtesy of Karthika Angamuthu, who headed a well-delivered corner into the far post.

However, the momentum shifted in the second period as Nongmaithem Ratanbala and Irom Prameshwori Devi combined effectively to break down the opposition's defence.

In the 51st minute, Ratanbala dispatched a precise cross that Prameshwori connected with a powerful right-footed strike to make it all square.

Prameshwori then com pleted her brace in the 90th minute, securing the victory in remarkable fashion.
