6th MNCA Elite Tourney : Alfred Hmar picks five as REYS sink FORCE to relegation

The semi-final lineup of the 6th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament was completed today as REYS, Khwai Nagamapal rode on Alfre Hmar's five-for to beat lacklustre FORCE, Kshetrigao by 7 wickets in the penultimate Group A league match.
The result also meant that FORCE, who lost five of five league matches, were relegated to Super Plate Group as they finished last Group competition (A) .
Opting to bat first here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, FORCE were bowled out for a paltry 148 runs in 37.3 overs as Alfred Hmar (5/32 in 6.3 overs) ripped through their batting line up.
REYS then chased down the target in 31 overs at the cost of three wickets thanks to an unbeaten 95 from Mintu Chandra.
FORCE were faced stiff opposition from the beginning and were reduced to 37 for 3 j after 11.4 overs as Nanao Laishram (2/17 in 8 overs which contained 4 maidens) removed f Rohit Singha (4) and Saddam Ahmed Shah (6) cheaply and Kiran Laishram bowled out ! Arshad Ali Shah for 22 .
Thokchom Nishikanta (43) and Khushru Pravez (29) did well to resurrect the innings : but Alfred Hmar was at his best today and got ; rid of the duo for the fifth and sixth wickets j before completing his five wicket haul by ! sending Reewaj Khan out on 3-ball duck and -i wrapped up the innings.
In reply, REYS also found it tough to keep' j up the run rate and slipped to 33 for 2 with Naoshekpam Manglemba and S Jayanta departing cheaply.
However the third wicket partnership between Mintu Chandra and Daniel took the tally to 110 as they gathered 77 runs off 91 deliveries before Daniel was lbw out off Tashib Alam in the 27th over.
Mintu Chandra held on and steered REYS to winning 152 in 31 overs as he added an unbeaten 95 on the back of 8 fours and 6 sixes in 87 balls he faced.
Kiran was also unbeaten on 6 as REYS registered second win in as many as 6 matches with 7 wickets left to spare.
Alfred Hmar who shone with a five-for in 6.3 overs was adjudged man of the match.
With the conclusion of league stage, Group A winners TRAU will take on Group B runners up, Blue Hawk, Khurai in the first semi-final match on July 20 before Group B winners, CYCLONE, Thangmeiband take on Group A runners up PTRC, Patsoi on July 21 in the second semi-final match.
The final match is scheduled on July 24 .
