Christmas Marathon 2024 held in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, December 14 2024: The second edition of the Tamenglong Christmas Marathon 2024 was successfully held on Saturday at the Tamenglong District Headquarters under the theme "Run for Health" .

The event was organised by the Adventure Club of Tamenglong in partnership with Endurers, Rainforest Club Tamenglong, Pathfinder, Decathlon, 9 to 10 Shop, Liangtuang Gym, The Gaanphiu Mail, The Tamenglong Times, and The Cham, with support from the 6 Assam Rifles, Tamenglong.

Rev Guigongdai Pamei, associate pastor Emmanuel Baptist Church, Tamenglong, inaugurated the event with a prayer.

A total of 142 participants, including both male and female runners of various age groups, competed in the marathon, which began at the 6 AR Post in Akhui and concluded at Jadonang Park.

The event concluded with an award ceremony attend ed by Lanmiyo Luikham, SP Tamenglong, as the chief guest.

In his speech, Lanmiyo commended the participants for their commitment to fitness and health, expressing satisfaction in seeing a diverse group, from young to old, engage in the event.

Winners received cash prizes, medals, and certificates, while all finishers were awarded medals.

Other dignitaries, including the 2iC of 6 AR, the CMO of Tamenglong, and representatives from various sectors, were present at the ceremony.

The Tamenglong Christmas Marathon is an annual event designed to promote fitness, well being, and a lifestyle free from alcohol and substance abuse.

It also serves as a celebration of Christmas, emphasising values of love, joy, peace, and unity.

The prizes for the winners were generously sponsored by philanthropists from Tamenglong and beyond.

Shangthon Kamei, co-con-venor of the Tamenglong Christmas Marathon, thanked all participants, donors, volunteers, guests, and the public.

He also extended his thanks to the Police Department, 6 Assam Rifles, the Medical Department, and all others who contributed to the successful organisation of the marathon.
