Thoubal Super Divn League : Govinchandra hattrick helps YDC romp 7-0 past SWYC

Imphal, September 14 2022: S Govinchandra and Kh Birjit ran riot to contribute five goals in YDC-Khoirom's 7-0 demolition of SWYC-Charangpat for the 5th win in the ongoing L Memcha Devi Memorial Super Division Football League.

The huge win also helped YDC (16 points from 7 matches : 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss) to close in on to league leaders HKKSA who are on top with 18 points from 6 wins in 7 matches.

Only way for YDC to seal the league title is to beat HKKSA when they face each other in their penultimate match.

S Govinchandra shone with a hattrick today scoring the opener as early as four minutes into the game before adding the other two back to back in the 15th and the 29th minute.

His team mate Malemnganba then added another in the 31st minute to make it 4-0 till halfway.

The onslaught continued against the Charangpat team after the break as well and it was Kh Birjit who quickfired two goals in the 58th and 61st minute to further extend the lead before M Kishan got the decisive goal in the 67th minute.

The day also saw WYFC-Wangjing beat SYDA-Athokpam by 2-0 goals for their fourth win in the 9-team tournament being organised by DFA Thoubal at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex.

The two sides held off one another to enter the break goalless but Marjit gave WYFC the lead courtesy of a penalty in the 65th minute before Hopeson scored the second ten minutes later.

WYFC then held on to their lead and earned the clean sheet.
