State Level Masters Athletic Meet kicks off

The 43rd State Level Manipur Masters Athletic Meet 2024 kicked off at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on Saturday, with over 200 athletes participating in the two-day competition organised by Manipur Masters Athletic Association (MNAA).
Senior athletes aged between 30 and 90 years are in the fray for medals.
The events include in 1km, 3km & 5km walks; 5000m, 400m & 100m races; long jump, shotput, hurdles and javelin throws.
On the first day of the meet, N Sunita (40 yrs), N Kadam (60 yrs), Sh Shyama (65 yrs), A Memcha (70 yrs), L Moirangleima (75 yrs) and RK Sanahanabi (80 yrs) clinched gold medals in their respective categories in the women's 5000m race.
In women's long jump, Joshina Chongtham (30 yrs), K Sakila (35 yrs), P Bijaya (40 yrs), Ksh Ronibala (45 yrs), N Sanatombi (50 yrs) and S Laxmi (55 yrs) claimed top podium honours.
Among the gold medallists in men's shotput were S Maipak (50 yrs), Md Firoz Khan (55 yrs), Md Ayub Khan (60 yrs), M Nimai (65 yrs), A Surendro (70 yrs), S Noren (75 yrs), Kh Joy (80 yrs) and Kh Ibocha (85 yrs) .
On the second and final day of the meet, the schedule includes men's and women's 10,000m races, discus throw, 200m race, triple jump, pole vault, hammer throw, 800m race, high jump, and 1500m race events.
