BJP all set for mega marathon today

Imphal, August 11 2022: BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda has said that the party is all set to organise a mega marathon on Friday as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign being conducted in commemoration of the 75th year of India's independence, which is celebrated as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav for one year.

According to Premananda, more than 2000 athletes are expected to take part in the marathon which will be biggest in the North East though conducted under Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

More than 2,000 athletes have collected application forms for taking part in the marathon and 1900 of them have submitted the same so far, he informed, adding that the marathon will be flagged off by chief minister N Biren Singh from Maibam Lokpa Ching while party president A Sharda Devi will receive the participants at Khuman Lampak main stadium.

BJP MLAs will distribute tricolour flags to the participants before 200 metres of the finishing point and the first runner who hands over the tricolour to A Sharda will be declared winner of the marathon, he said, adding that winners of both the men's and women's categories will be given Rs 1 lakh cash each followed by Rs 50,000 for second and Rs 30,000 for the third position holders.

Consolation prizes too will be given to other top runners, he added.
