MRC beats GDC win in TBSFA Football

Imphal, February 08 2013: MRC, Lilong Chajing today defeated GDC, Thinungei in U-16 category while host TBSFA, Taobungkhok blanked LASHAL, Leimapokpam in U-13 category of the ongoing State Level 5th U-13 and 10th U-16 Th Birachandra Singh Football Academy (TBSFA), Football Tournament at TBSFA Sports Complex, Taobungkhok, Imphal West.

In the U-16 category, MRC, Lilong beat GDC, Thinungei 2-1 after a tough fight and won today's match.

The match was an equally contested match with each teams trying to dominate over one another.

Players of both teams found a hard time in outsmarting their rivals throughout the match in their quest to win the match.

Surjakanta of MRC drew the first blood in the 18th minute of the match.

Later in the 48th minute, his teammate Tiken added a goal in MRC's account and extended the lead to 2 against nil of GDC.

On the other hand, GDC players who could not open their goal account despite their best efforts did not lose heart and kept on looking for opportunity to sneak behind the defence of their rival and strike goals.

They got their chance in the 58th minute when Bijendra got the chance to get behind the defence line of MRC and he successfully converted the chance into the goal.

With a difference of only one goal, they raced against time to square back the game but they could not scored any further goal as there was not enough time for them to strike another goal against their rival and they lost the match.

Later, in the U-13 category, host TBSFA, Taobungkhok blanked LASHAL, Leimapokpam with two goals to win the match.

The match began with high notes among the players of both teams.

However, TBSFA players were too good for LASHAL as they spent almost the whole match defending themselves with some occasional attacks against the host.

The two goals of TBSFA were scored by K Dinesh and N Maniton in the 34th and 40th minutes of the match respectively.

N Maniton was issued a yellow card for his unsporting behaviour during the match.
