UTA shine on Day 1 of Governor's Taekwondo Cup

Imphal, April 27 2023: UTA made the most of the opening day of the 17th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2023 which got underway at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

UTA got their campaign off to a flying start by winning 11 medals including five gold.

The team's top finishers on the opening day were Yurembam Nongpoknganba, Khourom Kelly Chanu, Velina Takhellambam, Lanchenbi Abuyam and Khwairakpam Grabita.

Apart from their five goals medals, UTA also claimed one silver and five bronze medals.

PTA were the other notable performers of the day claiming three gold and three bronze medals.

Prior to the day's competition, an opening ceremony was held with RD & PR minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, H Meghachandra, vice president All Manipur Taekwondo Association, and MLA Wangkhei Thangjam Arunkumar attending as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.
